Unlimited Device License

GoZync offered an unlimited device license for ProZync: a good option for customers with more than 20 synced devices.

Hosting Companies & Developers

The unlimited license was not a reseller, dev, or hosting license. It was for a single customer with an unlimited number of syncing devices, not for an unlimited number of (your) customers.

If you were hosting for X different customers, you'd need X Zync licenses, each licensed for however many devices that customer had. GoZync used a BYOL setup for hosting: the customer brought their own license.

This was the same idea for a custom developer with a lot of use for GoZync across various customer solutions: each customer needed their own license.

Vertical Market Licenses

If you had a software package that you sold--what we used to call "shrink wrapped software"--the Vertical Market license provided a single unlimited license that covered all the customers using your package, installed on as many servers as needed, be those your customer's servers or your own.

Vertical Market licenses were designed to allow FileMaker developers to integrate SeedCode products into packages intended for resale. Such packages were generally sold to multiple locations, and the Vertical Market license waived the single site license requirement above, replacing it with a world-wide distribution license for one package.

Using GoZync in more than one package required a separate Vertical Market license per package.

For example, if a consultant developed software for a law firm, the firm would need a site license of GoZync. If that software was then sold to law firms across a wider region, a Vertical Market license would be needed. A separate version made for cardiologists would need a second Vertical Market license for that package.
